Gleneagles

The Gleneagles® Hotel, just one hour's drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, was built by the Old Caledonian Railway Company in 1924 in the heart of a beautiful Scottish glen. Set in an 850-acre estate with its own railway station, it immediately won fame as one of the world's finest hotels

Renowned for its three championship golf courses - The PGA Centenary Course, created by the legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, venue for the Ryder Cup 2014 - as well as the King's and Queen's Courses. All offer generous fairways, big greens, challenges for all handicaps and superb views of the surrounding countryside.

As well as golf, there are many other sporting opportunities at Gleneagles. The shooting and fishing schools offer clay target shooting and trout fishing on three lochs within the resort's estate. The equestrian school provides coaching in all disciplines in one of the finest equestrian environments. There is all weather tennis, squash, swimming, croquet, cycling, off-road driving and the opportunity for guests to fly Harris hawks at the falconry school.

The hotel has 232 luxurious bedrooms, including 16 elegantly designed suites, four restaurants, including the Two Michelin-starred Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles and one bar

Gleneagles was designed in the style of a French chateau and Capability Brown, the celebrated 18th century landscape gardener, inspired the landscaping. Today, the hotel has 232 bedrooms including 26 suites. Braid House, an additional accommodation wing, opened at a cost of £10 million in December 2002. This wing houses 59 luxurious bedrooms, many of which have balconies, and four state-of-the-art meeting rooms. Ten stunning top floor spirit suites opened in June 2007, named after brands from the world leading drinks company Diageo, Gleneagles' parent company. This £3.5 million project added nine highly sought after two bedroom suites and an additional one bedroom suite, many of which have spectacular views of the surrounding area, and an informal meeting room.
